The heritage of AFA goes back 30 years to the audit and consultancy firm of Deloitte South Africa. Following a management buyout in 2018, a 100% black-owned and 57% female-owned organisation was launched, with an impressive list of prestigious clients.

Sumendra Naidoo
Director
Sumendra Naidoo is a Director at AFA and was previously a director at Deloitte South Africa. He has more than 25 years of financial and management accounting experience in both the public and private sector.
He leads large, multidisciplinary teams as the client service leader and has a track record of delivering results that provides his clients with a competitive advantage. Sumendra has chaired as CFO with many clients and is highly skilled in all aspects of financial project, financial accounting, including reporting, management and accounting outsourcing and financial resource management.

Shaun Govender
Director
Shaun Govender is a Director at AFA and was previously a
director at Deloitte South Africa where he was the National Head
of the Finance and Accounting High Impact Solutions business.
He has over 15 years’ industry experience in financial
management consulting in both the public and private sector.
His functional experience includes financial project management, financial management and reporting, process improvement, financial automation and cost reduction.

Grant Kennedy
Associate Director
Grant Kennedy is an Associate Director at AFA with 11 years’
experience in financial advisory services. Before joining the
AFA practice within Deloitte in May 2011. Grant completed
his articles in 2010 at Deloitte South Africa followed by a
secondment at Deloitte Bermuda.
He has broad product delivery and industry experience specialising in the retail, transportation, education and banking sectors, where he delivers in close, consolidate and reporting, preparation of financial statements, project management and group reporting.

Muhammad Loonat
Associate Director
Muhammad Loonat is an Associate Director at AFA bringing
in over 10 years’ experience in audit and accounting services
in various industries in both the public and private sectors.
Before joining AFA, Muhammad completed his articles at
Deloitte South Africa.
He has delivered on multiple products and projects in close, consolidate and report, budgeting and forecasting and finance PMO, and his industry experience includes the power, utilities and infrastructure, ICT, Insurance and Banking, as well as health sectors. Muhammad is committed to assisting his clients in obtaining operational excellence and achieving their strategic objectives.

Brigitte Vorster
Head of KwaZulu-Natal
Brigitte Vorster heads the AFA office in KwaZulu-Natal.
She brings in 9 years’ experience in financial management,
auditing and accounting, project management, budgeting
and forecasting and financial reconciliations.
She started her professional career at Deloitte South Africa, where she served her articles from 2010 to 2012. In 2013, she went on secondment to Deloitte Canada, before joining AFA as a senior manager and head of the KwaZulu-Natal office.

Sabir Adam
Head of Western Cape
Sabir leads the Western Cape Branch of AFA as well as the
Accounting and Payroll Outsourcing Divisions at AFA.
He guides a team that seeks to disrupt the accounting outsourcing industry by executing a tailored and integrated accounting service. He is deeply passionate of implementing accounting solutions that are more than compliance and help drive the business forward. He is of the belief that accountants play a critical role in unlocking value in a business.
Sabir brings more than a decade of experience in the field of financial, management and project accounting. This experience has been gained through 8 years of experience in various commercial, reporting and management roles at De Beers and 6 years of management consulting experience at Deloitte and AFA.
His skills enable him to service a number of high profile clients on wide variety of issues, including project management, advising on and implementing appropriate systems for financial management and reporting, assisting management with budgeting and forecasting as well financial and performance reporting.

Ayesha began her career at Deloitte in South Africa before relocating to Canada, where she has gained extensive experience in the local market. Leading a specialised team, she provides top-tier financial services to small and medium businesses on a fractional basis, empowering them to scale and thrive.
Tafadzwa Makombe
Head of Talent
Tafadzwa Makombe is the Head of Talent at AFA. She brings
in 7 years’ experience in audit, accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and project management.
She started her professional career at Deloitte South Africa, where she served her articles from 2013 to 2015. In 2016, she went on secondment to Deloitte USA, and upon arriving back in South Africa worked at Anglo American before joining AFA as Manager in 2019.
As AFA has grown, so has the requirement for a team dedicated to the wellness of staff and attraction of new talent into the business. Tafadzwa has been driven by a passion for people. She has mentored and coached many people within AFA and outside of the company. She was a finalist in the SAICA top 35 under 35 in 2021 and an author.
Tafadzwa is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a BCom in Accounting and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town.
She started her professional career at Deloitte South Africa, where she served her articles from 2013 to 2015. In 2016, she went on secondment to Deloitte USA, and upon arriving back in South Africa worked at Anglo American before joining AFA as Manager in 2019.

Thobela Dudumashe is an Operations Manager at AFA. She has
over 12 years’ experience in accounting, financial management
and supply chain. Thobela has worked in both the private and
public sectors across various industries in South Africa.
Her product delivery experience includes business operations support to achieve company strategy objectives, office management, development and improvement of company policies and internal controls, talent sourcing, systems implementation, financial reporting, payroll and project management.
Thobela is a member of South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) and holds a Diploma in Cost & Management Accounting from Durban University of Technology, a BTech from UNISA and Post Graduate Diploma in Taxation from WITS.
